Nceku designs space, body and light for the stage — building the physical worlds that hold a performance together.
I design for the space between a body and the light that finds it — where a set becomes a world, and a costume becomes a character.
Working across scenography and costume for theatre and performance, my practice moves from research and technical drawing to scale models and finished garments. Each project is an archive of its own making — the sketches, the process, and the final image, kept together.
The set as a world. Technical drawings, scale models and built environments — from concept and research through to the stage.

Every project shown from the inside out — so a director sees not only the result, but how it was arrived at.

A scenographer and costume designer working in theatre and performance — designing the space, the body and the light a story needs to be told.
My name is Nomsa. Originally from Soweto, I graduated in Theatre & Performance, majoring in Design and Writing for the stage, and served as Head of Wardrobe at Rhodes University — designing and producing costumes for departmental productions and collaborating across disciplines.
